This was such a powerful read. This is the type of book you will need to read over and over again. Lorde can say so much in so few lines. However, I regret listening to audiobook because I had to pause it often in order to think about what was being said. I think physical reading is the route that I will go next time.

Reminded me of the importance to return to Audre’s prose. With every read a different essay or phrase stands out. This time on mothering, the US’s antics against people of color and black people across the world and in the US as nothing new, as well as the importance of loving ourselves first to truly love one another.
I don’t have anything to say about this book that hasn’t already been said, but I can say that this book has been on my “backburner” for a while now and I am so glad to finally have read it. Everything I was expecting and more, this is essential reading for any feminist, anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, parent, or really just any human being.
