Good in Bed

LOVED this book. It made me laugh and cry and miss Philly. Cannie is every woman who is not model-thin or beautiful. Her insecurities are mine.

Very good read. It took me a bit longer to get through, because the main character was a little too whiny during some parts but her quick wit and humor got me through this book. I found myself laughing at the most inappropriate times during the book. I'd love to read more of this author's work!

I loved this book, best in the series, I loved the next one too, In Her Shoes.

Warning: This will not be spoiler free.

I had significant issues with this book and, quite frankly, didn’t enjoy most of the plot at all. I did nearly DNF after a truly surprising turn of events at 40%. My least favourite trope of all time: unexpected pregnancy (I will die on this hill because this ruins every book it finds its way into). Had I known that was part of this book I would have never picked it up in the first place. This also did not need to be as long as it was and I don’t feel like Cannie needed to pine for her ex-boyfriend (whom she clearly didn’t like all that much and no one will convince me otherwise) for as long as she did. I didn’t buy that she missed him or loved him at all so I found everything that even remotely had to deal with Bruce to be pretty insufferable to read and I became increasingly frustrated with Cannie’s character.

However, I enjoyed Jennifer Weiner’s writing quite a bit. Cannie, while really fucking frustrating, was really hilarious and loveable when not consumed by her ex boyfriend. I was really riveted with the story about her relationship with her father, but also fairly annoyed with how she treated her newly out mother. I eventually—and begrudgingly— got over the surprise pregnancy and did enjoy reading most of this book, particularly her eventual love interest, but I still hated the plot decisions that were made. I’m disappointed in this one.

When I started thinking about how I would rate and review this book, I was a bit torn. Good in Bed was not poorly written, but the writing was adequate. The story was not lame, cheesy or boring, it was quite fun at times and emotional.

I gave this book 2 stars because it pissed me off. I don't want to give too much away, but this Cannie chick really needed a good slapping. That's all I'm gonna say.

I really enjoyed the book. I felt that all the characters felt believable although 100 percent of the events were not realistic. For instance, it doesn't seem that easy to become friends with a movie star after meeting the first time. I really felt for the characters with how Bruce treated Cannie, and what happened with Joy's premature birth

Enjoyed it thoroughly!

Fun & emotional at the same time. A good reminder about getting priorities in life straight.
