a good beach read with funny fat-lady jokes/commentary.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

A few months after Cannie Shapiro tells her boyfriend, Bruce, that she wants a break, she discovers he has written an article in Moxie magazine about her, “Loving a Larger Woman.” Seeing her size discussed in print – in a magazine read by millions, no less – cuts her to the core. She is furious with Bruce and the fact that he doesn’t care about her feelings. Cannie decides to make some changes in her life, including signing up for a study about a new pill for weight loss. At the weight loss clinic, however, everyone else seems to think the article was touching. One woman even comments to Cannie that she can’t believe the woman in the article let the writer go, and Cannie finds herself questioning her decision.

This book dealt with some heavy issues and yet overall remained light and funny. Cannie had a great sense of humor; my favorite parts were when that showed through. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fluffy, funny read.

Very slow start and much to much explanation of her past. Found myself skipping ahead just to get to the point.

This was a pleasant story. It wasn't nearly as cliched as one might expect. I listened to it as an Audiobook, so I can't comment much on the writing, except to say it was at least decent, and might have been better had I actually been reading the words. It's more serious than most "chick lit" and the characters are only slightly exasperating. The story moved at a good pace and turned at the right moments to keep me interested.

The easy read I needed after a few harder reads
funny lighthearted relaxing fast-paced

I enjoyed this - it's fun and funny while also dealing with some big issues like love and abandonment and body acceptance.
