Usually I don't write reviews, I just give my rating and get on to the next book. Even if the book has had an impact on me, I keep it to myself. However, I feel compelled to give my opinion about Femina.
Femina, as a whole, was a bit dry and as such it took me a while to read it. It isn't the author's fault, but rather my own as I prefer a more, say, digestible, "less academic" and "easier" writing style. This being said, Femina is an amazing book that opened my eyes.

As a woman, I am more than aware that History was written through a male's lenses and that women were often forgotten, and barely mentioned at all. This book opens an entire new world and focus on women of the Middle Ages. Not only, it gave me a different view of women's lives back then, but it also challenged my own perspectives on Medieval period as a whole.

This book opened the doors for me. Now I am eager to explore more on this topic, learn about women throughout History and the Middle Ages, a period so misunderstood. I want a different approach to History rather than our traditional way of learning and teaching it.
To me, a book that makes you want to explore more, is a successful book.
