This is a fictional memoir about a woman who studies dragons. The characters don't say they're from England, but it feels very much like they are.
It feels very believable in the way the story unfolds. They characters are not perfect and they are very interesting. I was often frustrated at their choices, but I loved that the author kept bringing it back to the fact that she was so young when she was on her first dragon expedition.
I'll probably read more of these books. I found it after reading. Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Fairies and it does have similar vibes.

Saw this book reviewed by many readers I follow on IG. I am not a fan of memoirs. This was an exception to this statement. I was so enthralled with the hardships, journeys, and suffering for all parties! I look forward to the next book.

Breathtaking. From the beauty of dragonkind to the scientific observations of humanity, this book was so lovely to devour. It also did a tremendous job of breaking my heart thoroughly. I might have to take a breather, but will start the next one very soon, as I am eager to know what happens next for Isabella.
