A well-written tale that looks deeper into Noah's story than you could expect. Written for children but definitely worth reading for any adult.

An interesting, if somewhat slight post-modernist/feminist take on Noah's Ark and the Great Flood. Very readable but felt slightly overlong for what it was trying to say.

Okay... I had a lot of issues with this book. It wasn't a bad book but neither was it the best I've ever read. I didn't like some of the messages contained in the book then again... I never really do when it comes to religion type books such as these. I was trying to look at it from a out source type of person but... I couldn't.

The characters... well... they all annoyed me. All except Japheth and Zillah. Everyone else... yeah. They got under my skin. But I guess that was just their personalities. In any case, the author wrote true to their character I can say. She is a fantastic writer. That I can say without any doubt. I love how it flowed smoothly. It was easy to understand and I love how she added some creatures that didn't make it to the New World. Also, I love how it had different perspectives. That was a nice touch.

All-in-all, it was not a bad book. If you are a Christian and are looking for a retelling of Noah's Ark then by all means pick it up. However, if you know of a better book, I suggest you check that one out before this one. I like it... just wasn't really my cup of milk.

for a children's book, it was pretty dark at times.

This book was good, but not the greatest thing ever.

This book was actually much darker than I expected it to be. I was anticipating a relatively light hearted imagining of what it might have been like on Noah's ark. Instead, there are moments of real brutal desperation, and provacative exploration of devour faith. I would really recommend this book to children and adults, as I think you could get very different things out of it depending on your current experiences of the world.

Good. Was so slow to start but was a heartwarming story on the whole. Probably wouldn't read it again, but I would recommend it to other people. It is really sweet. Sometimes I found it to be a bit confusing but it was overall good.

Quick read. Story was so unflinchingly focused on a few of the main characters that I barely even notice the others, which is probably the point as Noah would normally be the main character. But made for a slightly unsatisfying and biased-feeling story.
Very cleverly written though, enjoyed the animal perspectives. McCaughrean is clearly very talented.
