This is my new, best, and only way of take notes during class . My weakness in school is daydreaming, I am really good at it, I can even copy what the teacher is writing from the board to my notebook and not realize it until the I reach the end of the page. My mind being somewhere else. Same thing with audio books, my mind just cancels out the sound to think about something else and before I know it I am on Chapter 7, but could not tell you the name of the main character for a hundred dollars.

Sketch notes force me to stay engaged during lecture by keeping my pen constantly moving on the paper, and my ears constantly listening, preventing my mind from wondering. It is extremely effective! Plus, my notes are a "work of art!" I get so many compliments, and more than a few times extra credit for turning them in. It also makes studying way more fun.

I highly recommend anyone give this method a shot, its helped me SO much, it is invaluable.

A quick read on taking visual notes, told through this visual style. This book did not teach me anything new, but it did increase my confidence to break out of the standard outline style of note taking... and convince me that I don't want to stray too far anyway. Good for note takers and visual and kinesthetic learners.

Naja, ein ganzes Buch für die simple Idee, dass man Mitschriften auch mit Symbolen, Bildern und Kritzeleien personalisieren kann? Überflüssig, aber wer's mag...

Seems like a great idea, but I don't currently have any uses for it. Once I get back to going to talk, conferences, etc., I'll definitely start using this method for note taking.

This one was fun to read/flick through. Very inspiring – I think I'll go sketch something now.

A great text on how and why to combine words and images for increased understanding and retention of ideas. ❤️

For this book review I will simply share my final Sketchnote of key ideas as well as my review. I don't think the author would want a review any other way than to see this great book put into practice. This has become my new obsession!

My sketchnote review can be found here: http://coffeeforthebrain.com/coffeechug-reads-the-sketchnote-handbook-by-mike-rohde/

If you cannot figure it out, I loved this book and it has helped to challenge my thinking and finding key ideas.

This is fantastic! I've been inspired by the idea of taking visual notes and this was a great guide for how to get started. I loved that it used the same medium to talk about the topic (e.g. Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics).

I've found that sketchnoting does in fact help me to focus and forces me to synthesize my thoughts rather than blindly jotting down information. AND I love looking at my notes afterwards. Trying it with books as well as sermons.
