A little slow at parts, but an excellent read if you want a more historical perspective of how the stereotype of Autism came to be and why it needs to change.

While I don't pretend to believe this book has everything, it does seem to provide a good primer on the history of Autism as well as giving a good understanding of the move to self-advocacy. It's a pretty good general introduction.

4.5 - this is by far the most comprehensive account I’ve read that does not talk down to its audience. Reading this was incredibly validating, and I can only hope NTs make their way to this book to begin questioning their own assumptions as well.

This was such an interesting read, and I really enjoyed the historic and political information as well. Another autism book I thoroughly enjoyed. I may get a copy of it for my father
