I finished it, dear reader, so it's got some narrative drive, or I'm just a sucker (not that kind of sucker!) for this kind of story.
BUT, if you care At All about spelling, punctuation, or grammar, do give this one a wide berth.
I strongly suspect it was dictated into voice-recognition software and then published. I don't think anyone read it first, much less an editor. I mean, 'passed' when it should be 'past', every time? Does anyone who can read English do that?

Liked it. Fun story, awesome universe.of.stories lovingly intertwined. A little twee in places, and definitely has a weird timeline sequence at the back end of the book but altogether, a pretty charming story of first love and healing. Will definitely work my way through Brawlers and maybe circle back to Twirled Ink. JM Dabney is an enthusiastic character writer with a passion for the form.
