An interesting essay but I found the tone a bit off putting. I liked how the author equated book covers to clothing and how that idea related to her own ideas of being dressed and presented.

Loved this beautiful book!

The author draws from her childhood experiences if clothing and how the way we dress expresses our opinions to connect it with book covers. All the analogies drawn were perfect and there were some beautiful comparisons too. The writing style was simple and eloquent. All in all a great book!

Baker has said that books “come to stand for various episodes in our lives, for certain idealisms, follies of belief, moments of love. Along the way they accumulate our marks, our stains, our innocent abuses—they come to wear our experience of them on their covers and bindings like wrinkles on our skin.”

Absolutely loved this.

Aspiring to one day create and diagnose book covers, I always appreciate book covers that make me feel something. When i read an ebook and want to have it on my shelf I choose very carefully the edition that touches my heart and feels connected to the story.

This masterpiece of a book talks about how important the art of book covers is.

Highly recommend for anyone interested in the idea behind book covers.
