I found parts of this book engaging, especially parts 1 and the ending.  I also preferred Brin’s sections because I found her more compelling.

While I didn’t always like the middle, I do appreciate the growth of the characters, and how they handled each twist.

Meh. The premise of this sounded quite alright, but it wasn’t executed very well. This included a lot of ‘traumatic’ (by lack of a better word) scenes/lines that just weren’t necessary (e.g. the way too detailed description of animal cruelty and the extensive use of slurs and just overal lesbophobia).

The author would also sometimes throw in ‘poetic’ and ‘deep’ quotes, but that just didn’t match the rest of the writing at all.

I did like the fact that THE April Kepner was one of the narrators of the book.

This book wasn’t awful, but I wouldn’t especially recommend it either.

The character felt a bit too similar at times and the book was confusing at parts however I did like the blend of past and present and snippets of the stories
