I've really been enjoying this series up until now, but I just felt a bit disappointed by this book.
It was really long for a book that mostly felt like filler for the story. There was very little plot or character development, and we didn't learn the answers to pretty much anything from previous instalments.
I felt like this book could have benefited from dual POV. Since all of the action took place from Aria's perspective we lost so much time with Knox and the others. I understand that the author wanted us to feel surprised by learning what had happened at the same time as Aria, but it just felt like we had skipped over some major stuff that we should have been present for as a reader.
It also annoyed me endlessly, and this is purely my opinion, that Aria kept on telling us about songs she was hearing in her mind or even projecting out loud. It made me really disconnected from what was happening.

This series a mess. A mess I’ll keep reading until the end but a mess all the same. The magic system makes no sense- the rules change all the time. It’s also incredibly repetitive. Characters are constantly recapping things that just happened sentences ago. Not to mention the pages long inner monologues that just say the same thing over and over and over. I swear if I read the phrases “bare bones”, “do I need to draw it for you in crayon” and “fuck around and find out” one more time I might launch myself into space.
Graphic: Kidnapping, Sexual content, Gore, Torture, Misogyny, and Pregnancy
