I'd give it 3,5 stars, but since I can't I'll give it 4 stars. At first it was hard to get into the story. In the beginning it was hard to follow, but later one the story finally grabbed me and I enjoyed it a lot.

The second book in the "Game" trilogy picks up the story with HP getting into trouble in Dubai and being deported back to Sweden where HP under a false name joins an IT company to investigate the events which played out in Dubai. His situation takes a turn when he attracts the attention of the powerful CEO. De La Motte avoids the pitfalls of focussing on the "Game" of the first novel by creating a side-story which folds into the main "Game". A cohesively written page-turner with loads of twists and turns and a decent unfold.

This book is pretty gripping, and one exciting thing happens after another, keeping you turning pages. However, I can't say that it is a fun read. There is really nothing happy that happens in this book, it's all pretty depressing.

Besides that, I don't like any of the characters. They are just not very good people. I also found it a little hard to follow at times when the POV would shift, basically from paragraph to paragraph. No chapter break, or even some kind of sign, you just have to figure it out as you go.

All that said, I will read the next one, because the story is interesting, and I'd like to see where it all goes.

The second book in this Trilogy is Buzz and it picks up about 14 months after Game, we find out what HP is up to and what kind of trouble he can get into, but the real trouble don’t start until in runs into Becca, that’s the jumping off point and I couldn’t put it down. Keeping the theme of the first it was fun, fast paced and kept me guessing. I can’t wait to read the last book in the trilogy Bubble. Buzz gets a 4 out of five stars as well.

Anders De La Motte did is a wonderful add gem to the English book market.

Reti gadās, kad man triloģijā labāk patīk otrā grāmata, nekā pirmā. Pareizāk sakot, šis ir pirmais gadījums.
Sākumā traucēja, ka pirmo daļu lasīju diezgan sen, un maz ko atcerējos, bet liekas, ka tur beigu notikumi bija intensīvāki un nebija ļoti spiests uz to, ka jāgaida nākamās daļas, lai noskaidrotu pašas beigas. Šajā daļā gan gaisā paliek karājoties ļoti daudz jautājumu zīmju.

This is a sequel to Game, and another book that I impulsively snatched from netgalley. While the first one wasn't bad, this one had more issues. But first, the positives!

HP was a lot less of a little shit. Still a douche, but slightly better and I even rooted for him a little bit, especially after he got a job at the evil ArgosEye and did some bad-ass things. Not as happy with Rebecca though, because she somehow became even more boring and so much more stupid, not to mention a casually horrible person with no redemptive qualities whatsoever. But I'm talking about the positive things, so let's get back to that..

Well. The ending "ha-HA!" moment was pretty cool, and the general buildup of the conspiracy theory insanity was quite compelling. But things quickly turned for the worse when it jumped out of the realm of the believable and into "you gotta be kidding me, you asshole" land. Too many convenient coincidences, too many unexplained plot holes covered up with the pacing, and too many plot strings completely abandoned. I don't know if each one will be picked up in the finale of the trilogy, because I'm not wasting my time on it. Maybe I'll peruse other reviews tagged with a spoiler alert.

I guess I couldn't stop myself from diving straight into the bad stuff, but I don't want to dwell on it. Like I mentioned, the pacing is good towards the end, but there was a big slump in the middle and it was uneven throughout. There were some scenes that were uncharacteristically bizarre (Monica's house, anyone? How about the penthouse apartment??) The characters' reactions were wildly inconsistent with the way normal humans act. HP and his sister had a totally cavalier attitude towards her witnessing his naked cavorting and pretty much glossed right over the multiple traumas Rebecca suffered. What. I know the characters aren't a priority with this guy, but maybe try to make them a little interesting?

Sigh. This book was like eating stale potato chips. They're bad for you and they don't even taste great, but I ate them anyway because reasons.

-I got a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review-

Oh boyy. There's a lot going on with this one... So let me start with the good stuff.

The story is good. It's exciting, promising and you just want to keep on reading because you just háve to know how it will end. The entire book is one big puzzle and in the end, the pieces will fit together. It actually makes you want to read more.

But the reason why I'm only giving this book two stars is because of the writing. I wanted to see if the writer developed his writing skills after the first book but he didn't. Not even a bit. The two main characters are still annoying and boring as hell. HP is just a dick and will probably always be one. Rebecca is pathetic. As a reader, I find it very hard to like them and so the story becomes harder to read.
Also, HP makes me cringy. Literally. The way he thinks, the way he talks... It's like he's not an adult but a teenager who just learned some English. It's really hard to explain because readers who read the English translation will probably notice it less than others. Just imagine you're reading something in your own language and somehow the main character just throws in some modern English. It's really hard to explain but all the cursing in English was just frustrating to read and made me wanna throw the book out of the window.

I'm gonna read the final book, because of the story. But I would never recommend anyone reading this triology.

I wasn't sure where this one was going to pick up but here we are four months after the first book ended. HP is on the run and Rebecca is adjusting to her life. This book kept me on my toes more than the first one. I had no clue where the author was going to take me but what a ride it was. I don't want to give anything away but I will say I fricking loved where HP ended up working and the job he ended up doing. Completely fascinating and a bit scary if you ask me. Anyway, I cannot wait for the 3rd one to see how it all ends. The formatting issues I had with the first one were definitely solved in this one so it was much easier to follow. I also received this book from NetGalley and I hope to receive #3 soon so I can find out how it all ends!

What the hell? Was this even written by the same person? As out of place as the American movie quotes on every other page were in the first book, it was stranger still to have almost NONE in this book. Ok, I can look past that. But the first book was all action ~ vandalism, explosions, car crashes, and in this one you get........ chapters and chapters of writing on blogs and message boards.

OMG. If I wasn't doing a challenge, I would have never finished this, and it was torture suffering through it. Will NOT be reading the next one.
