This book is a perfectly uncomfortable story of micro aggressions and the way racism and white supremacy are insidious. As a white reader if found myself cringing and feeling very unsettled, and i believe that was the point. Highly recommend

Gorgeous. I loved this to pieces.

Kiley Reid’s writing is easy to read yet every sentence has a purpose. There’s definitely commentary on race and class, but I appreciated the multiple perspectives on the characters actions. I can’t wait to see more from Reid!

The dialogue in this book was so good!! Everything Briar said sounded exactly like something a little kid would say. The ending was kind of abrupt and a little bit of mess, but besides that the book was really good. Took me like 20 years to read bc I'm going through a reading slump, but that's not its fault.
