The off book.

It felt like Tammara Webber kidnapped the characters of another author and wrote her story around them.

I wish the hot stuff and the rough stuff would have been more balanced. Both regarding their amount or the structure of the novel.

Was it due to editing or it was written like this?

By the way, the author thanks her new editor at the end...

Once, I wrote Tammara Webber, that I read New Adult for the hot stuff. Still, after Easy I will always expect more from her, than just a hot romance.

Because she actually knows how to write about the rough stuff in a meaningful way. Rough stuff is never just props in her books.

And to finish this off on a personal note, I'd love to read one based on his brother's story.

"Once upon a time, an undeserving boy pulled a little half-drowned, wannabe mermaid out of the ocean. He laid her on the sand, thinking his heart would break if she didn't wake up. The moment she opened her big dark eyes and looked up at him, his heart wasn't his anymore. After that moment, his life's quest wasn't a matter of searching for his other half, because he knew right where she was. His mission was waiting for her to know he'd left his heart in her hand that day on the beach and hoping someday it would bring her back to him."

I have to admit not a lot happened in this book but it was really well written. Maybe that is why I finished it. 3.5-4ish stars.
Some things bothered me especially about the ex, well that came out of nowhere and why did the Mum tell her now and not then? Don't get it.

After being a bit disappointed in Breakable I put off reading Sweet for a bit. I wasn't sure how much I would enjoy it, but let me just say I shouldn't have had any worries. This story was heartbreaking and sweet and just perfect. Boyce is amazing. I loved him so so much and he is perfect for Pearl. Oh this book made me feel all the feels.

Boyce has not had the best upbringing. His mom left when he was seven leaving him with his abusive alcoholic dad. He hasn't really had much that has gone right in his life, but he has always had Pearl. Just not like he has always wanted her. They have been sorta friends forever, both liking the other as more but neither willing to say anything about it.

Pearl has always been planning on going to medical school and becoming a doctor. Everything she has worked for has lead her to this, only now she realizes she doesn't want to be a doctor. She misses her small hometown on the water. She missed the water, the creatures in it, she just misses her home. When she gets into the program she secretly applied to in her hometown she gives everything up to move back home. Her mom is not very happy with her and lashes out, but she still has Boyce to help her deal with everything.

Oh Boyce and Pearl. They were so great together and I just loved reading them! It is one of those times that you get both points of view so you can see how each of them thinks at certain times. It is one of those stories that if one of them would just say something they would get to happily ever after that much sooner. It makes sense why neither does, but oh I couldn't wait for them to realize they have both been in love with the other forever. The tension between them...oh it was so great to read. I loved them so much! When things come and shake things up for Boyce again he is even more uncertain about what to do with Pearl. He definitely has the he is not good enough for her thing going on. He has never had much, but he wants everything for her so he wants to have something to show for himself before he tries to win her over.

Pearl has her own issues to deal with, though they are not as bad as Boyce. They have their ups and downs, but the end is so sweet. Boyce almost made me cry with how incredible he is. I was so happy to see these two get what they always wanted and definitely deserved. This book was definitely sweet, and hot, and just perfect! Loved it!

Ermahgerd! That ending was terrible! The book was 5 stars until that garbage. THAT'S how you do a rushed ending folks. It didn't need all that. So much drama and pretty bows tied (see what I did there) into so few pages. Ughhhhh.

To be honest I was a little worried that this would be just a repeat of Jacqueline and Lucas's story, luckily it wasn't. It was just as cute though. The chemistry between Pearl and Boyce was undeniable. I love a guy who's a hard ass around everyone, but his girl.

I was really excited to read this book when I saw that it was about Boyce. I loved him in Breakable. He made me laugh out loud in the middle of reading and I rarely ever do that, so I was really anticipating a fun story here. I did get a few funny moments from him, but it wasn’t quite as entertaining being in his head as I had hoped. His internal dialogue ended up being pretty clichéd toward Pearl and depressing when he reflected back. Although I loved his sense of humor in Breakable and anticipated him coming onto the page, I never really got the sense that he was fall-over-myself gorgeous. He seemed like a meat head. Landon was the brains and looks and he was the muscle. So I had a really hard time empathizing with Pearl as she drooled over him. Even if he is beefed up, he still has red hair, freckles, and green eyes. I don’t personally find that look attractive so maybe that’s why? I had the urge to look away (or skim-read) when Pearl was describing how delicious he looked. That doesn’t make for a very alluring romantic read. I wanted to be able to daydream about Boyce like I did Landon/Lucas but I just couldn’t.
I felt like the whole story kind of dragged. He loves her. She loves him. They just don’t tell each other that. They pine away for each other while having casual sex. I felt like one good long conversation would have cleared things up pretty immediately and we could have explored how a relationship would develop between them.
I liked the flashbacks of what happened in high school, but I didn’t like how it would pull out of the story from one point of view, shove us in the present, then push us right back into that story from the other point of view. It felt really stunted. I think it would have sufficed to just tell it all from one perspective, and then we could have sympathized with the pain/embarrassment/confusion, etc that character went through.
I didn’t feel that Mitchell’s big bad appearance towards the end was necessary. It was like Webber knew that Easy was so popular because of her well-navigated take on rape and how she handled the villain in it, so she decided to throw one in there as well. I get that Mitchell was crazy and possessive to start with and I knew something was going to happen, but it didn’t feel natural that he would show up with a gun after he strangled someone back in Tennessee. I expected him to do something stealthier and more mean-spirited toward Pearl rather than just attack Boyce.
I thought the whole confession about Pearl’s dad was from left field and for no good reason. When they mentioned he was part of the Mexican drug cartel I thought, “Okay, so she’s going to get kidnapped by them or something?!” It was really random to throw that in there. It didn’t affect the story in any way except to confuse the reader.
The epilogue was pretty cheesy and unnecessary as well. We knew they would get married because he proposed (sort of) in the ambulance. Why did we need to see that? Arianna Maxfield creeped me out. No, just no. Oh, and the whole house being built in five months off of favors? Ha! Not very realistic. I could have stopped before the epilogue and been satisfied. At least they didn’t end up having a baby to make everything super happy and glittery.
I really wanted to enjoy this story, but it just sort of fell flat to me. It wasn’t awful, but I won’t be thinking about it for weeks to come and rereading it like I do Easy. I didn’t necessarily hate any characters that I was supposed to love, but I didn’t really connect to them either. It was just okay.

God! It has been forever since I picked up Miss Webber's book. Since I still remember fondly of Contours of the Heart series, I am so excited to finally finish this series with Sweet. I know that the story of Pearl and Boyd will be explosive.

Their romance and growing up story is slow burn. It started from they were kids until their adult. Boyd carries many baggage from his past. The death of this brother and his mother left him in the hand of abusive father. Not pretty story. Yet his spirit to live wild and free never dies.

Pearl who comes from strict upbrining, desperate to just breath. It is wonderful journey to see both of them finally get their HEA.

This was sweet! ;) In all seriousness, I definitely enjoyed this one. It was cute, and while I didn't find the pacing to be quite as arresting as EASY and found some of the flashbacks, particularly in the beginning, to be a little confusing at times, it was absolutely still an enjoyable (and sizzly) read. Boyce and Pearl were fun to read about and I also especially appreciated the diverse cast—Pearl is Latina, as are many minor characters, and another minor character is disabled.

All in all, SWEET is another fun NA read from Tammara Webber. If you like NA and haven't checked out her romances yet, you may definitely want to take a look!
