This book also contained two stories, and I thought that they were funny.

The first story was about Mel and Snow. Mel works at a diner that Snow frequently comes to, but they never spoke to each other. One time when Snow was there, two men came in to shoot the Species, but Mel finds her boss’s shotgun and shoots them both. She’s taken to Medical at Reservation and after that Snow comes to visit her a few times to convince her to be his mate.

I thought that this book was funnier, but at the same time it was a bit more drawn out because Mel insisted on dating Snow first (if two dates count). I liked both Mel and Snow, and while I really liked Mel meeting some other Species (at the cafeteria), the scene wasn’t long enough.

The second story was about Mary (Mel’s best friend) and Lash. Mel convinced Mary to come to the Reservation for her wedding, and during the wedding Mary goes to hide in the toilets. Two Species pass and she hears them talking and thinks that they are hunting her (that was ridiculous and annoying), so she climbs into a vent, which collapses. She ends up in Lash’s area in the basement, and he decides that she’s his mate.

The idea of this story was interesting since in the first story Mary is portrayed as being terrified of all animals as well as Species, and Lash is from the Wild Zone. However, Mary quickly gets over her fear, and while I liked Mary and Lash’s interactions, not much happened. Something happens at the end which means that Lash meets Mary’s parents, but that scene is cut short, so you don’t see any of it.

While I liked this series, I don’t think I’m going to try others by this author because there aren’t enough interactions with other characters.

I only read Snow and Mel's story and didn't like it much, so 2 stars for them.
I know all the books in this series are insta-love, but here it was even worse, especially in combination with Mel being as stupid as I thought she was.

The whole "Mary is scared of even the tiniest animal" was more than TSTL and the scenes where they all hide from her etc just felt way too stupid for me, though they were probably meant to be funny.

After reading some negative reviews (the whole consent thing and sudden personality change), I don't even want to try to read Mary's story. Just skimmed the epilogue and seriously? What is it with these women becoming (willingly) pregnant after just a few days together? I seem to remember the earlier books differently. Ugh...

This was even worse than Obsidian’s book and I really didn’t like that and gave that 2 stars, I rated this the same but only 1.5 stars for book 1 and 1 star for book 2.

Book 1- Mel & Snow. We met snow a little while age in Darkness’ book when he went to keep an eye on Kats friend at their house. He made a point then of saying he didn’t think she would go out with him and mate him because she was shy or whatever so it was obvious he needed a more tough female. Mel is definitely tougher and is a country farm girl through and through. She shoots the bad guys and almost kills one of them. Falls in love with Snow and they get married all in the space of about 5/6 days which isn’t unusual for species matings but because the books were very short things moved fast. I enjoyed this book more than Mary and Lash’s book. Mel already fancied Snow and he clearly already fancied her so it wasn’t surprising when they got together. A nice quick little book but again nothing really happens in the NS world overall and the threat isn’t one of the standards threats it’s just some ass who wants his 15 mins of fame for killing New Species.

Book 2- Mary and Lash. Now I have a real problem with this book. He basically rapes Mary and holds her hostage until she says she will stay with him and ,ate with him. He also doesn’t tell her that she could get pregnant and did it on purpose. I know he’s a Wild Zone resident but that doesn’t excuse his behaviour. She’s terrified of Animals in general and new species scare her even more then suddenly she falls into Lash’s home (quite literally) and she runs his chest trying to get him not to kill her then he has sex with her and says she never can leave. He basically forces her to be his mate and she wouldn’t just leave her fears because he had sex with her. She didn’t even really try to run away until he tells her she could be pregnant, it’s only then she flips out. Then when they get moved to the hotel and Bastiel, Jaded and Torrent turn up she gets a bit scared again and I just don’t see why she would go back like that but accept Lash. No thanks this book wasn’t for me. Yes he saves her parents from being held hostage but that shouldn’t overrule the fact he basically rapes her and keeps her hostage. 1 star just because it’s the NS series and it needed to be read but I can’t see how any of this helps the main story/threat in the NSO.

Hopefully and eventually the author will write a book on a character we already know and love and actually make it a full length book. If it’s another double book I don’t think I’ll waste money on it because I didn’t like Numbers or Best Friends.

No me ha gustado el final fe la serie...si es que es esta. Me falta ver que ocurrió con Fury, Justice, True. Siento que le faltó más.

LOVED LOVED LOVED. Laurann hits it out of the ballpark and we got TWO New Species in this one book finding their forever love. Loved how she took best friends in our small town near the Wild Zone and gave us two happy endings. Beautifully done.
