I went to Europe. That’s the gist of it, and nothing really was pushing me to bring this book with me. I believe I should read another Woolf and then come back to this novel. There were some bits that intrigued me like the ice in the river, his Russian lover, and of course his encounter with gypsies. but it went into a long paragraph on writing and I just put it down and never picked it back up.

One of the best endings I’ve ever read :) an incredible book with a beautiful message hidden in its long sentences. My girlfriend was right to recommend it

honestly starting this i was so pissed & found it all very annoying but i got invested quick. like wtf was happening this whole time. imagine ur so gay u write a whole book where u make ur lover go on random asf adventures & live for 400 years & be nonbinary & bisexual & a rly sexy slut & societally powerful & all the random stuff that happens. that's rly it this book is random asf. best part was when orlando dropped the toad down that chaser/egg's shirt.

It is becoming apparent that Woolf's writing is not for me. She wrote this book to point out the absurdities of social expectations according to gender and to complain, which is perfectly legitimate. Unfortunately, I found Orlando to be a terribly dull character, and the plot meandering and pointless. I don't even know how one lives for 300 years and remains an abstract concept of the Romantic poet that never does anything interesting. I much preferred A room of one's own. I will give her fiction another chance, maybe this one was not the one for me.

Even if it is probably not her best work, it's my favourite by Virginia. Imagine someon  writing such a book about you!

Incoherent.
