Sindiran keras buat para politikus (especially for a certain president) dan orang yang merasa mereka sudah dewasa. Willy Wonka masih tetap cemerlang.

Maybe my expectations were too high after the perfection that is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I found myself disappointed in this book. It lacked the captivating characters I usually encounter in Dahl’s books.

I don’t know if I ever read this one when I was younger. It’s even crazier than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so I think I would remember it if I had. I love Roald Dahl’s imagination.

This was such a departure from the first novel and I'm not surprised that it isn't as popular as that one.

The second half was fairly enjoyable, as we get to see more of Wonka's concoctions. Something about it also reminded me a bit of The Phantom Tollbooth which is a childhood favorite of mine. The first half of the book, however, is more science fiction based as opposed to the whimsical fantasy of the previously created world, and I was pretty bored while reading it.

But now I can say I've read the Charlie Bucket series, so at least there's that.

Really I just feel bad for Mrs. Bucket, caring for those old people in their bed for 20 years.

I read this with my six year old daughter, the first time for both of us. We agreed that it just didn't have the same magic as Charlie and the Chocolate factory.

My kids claim they like this one more than the first one, but I think that’s just because it was fresher. They laughed way more during the first book and always begged to keep going. This one was fun, but a bit too weird for my liking.
