Regretting You by Colleen Hoover is another great emotional page turner!  The story from the mother’s perspective often  jumps to the past which I really liked.  I felt like it gave me a better understanding of who she was and how she came to be in the present.  The daughter was realistically in every way a 16 year old girl dealing with grief and trauma.  I appreciated the look into how people deal with their grief in different ways.  Life doesn’t stop for anyone and is constantly moving forward.  One thing I found a tad  disappointing is that we don’t get to know everything but since there are no spoilers here I’ll say no more.  Only that it’s maddeningly brilliant on the authors part.

This book was extraordinarily mid. The premise is great but I think I would have enjoyed it more if it weren’t for the fact that the characters kept making terrible decisions. I don’t like miscommunication as a trope and I kept wanting to throw my phone across the room out of frustration that they refuse to communicate like mature human beings! Plus, I managed to predict the direction of the plot from reading the first two chapters, so any twists were pretty much lost on me. That said, it definitely wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be, and the ending was pretty sweet.

P.S. Gramps is an icon and I would willingly read a book just about him.

The only thing that saved this from getting 1 star was Clara and her friends. Morgan, Chris, and Jenny were all insufferable. Jonah was so close to being good but had no personality. Felt like a Wattpad fanfiction.
