DID NOT FINISH

yeah, absolutely not happening. dnf at 27%.
thought the first 20% were bad enough and had the absolute most ya contemporary clichés ever created. this feels like straight-up fan fiction. and i mean bad fan fiction.

what truly made me just close the book and be like "nope, im not reading this" is this exchange:

(mc finds a letter from her sister who's been missing for 4 years)
"I heart you more than Starburst and salsa." (how the letter ends)
"Heart you more than Cool Ranch and blueberry shakes," I whispered out of habit.

oh gosh, i really cannot believe this.

A little heavier than the first one, but still had an adorable romance, and I was excited to see Alec get his HEA.

We got to attend a couple of black-tie affairs, as well as go on a road trip, which is always a good idea. In-between, there was some physical and soul searching, some uncovering of secrets, and some fun with the rest of the Heartbreakers.

Ugh this book is as fabulous as the first book in the series. I am already in high anticipation of the third book (WHICH DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A RELEASE DATE YET????) But revisiting the boy band was such a fun experience, and I love Alec, and I love Felicity. Felicity has great supportive friends, and the story just comes together in a great way!!

Easy to recommend, sweet cis romance

Ali is amazing at building fully developed characters that I LOVE and am invested in. Felicity was another fun girl who gets the experience of a lifetime when she meets a member of the biggest boy band of her generation at a masquerade ball and they head off on a spontaneous road trip. The story line was a bit predictable (and VERY slow), and the cliched misunderstanding was annoyingly avoidable, but it was still a fun and easy rom-com read.

While this story was much less compelling than its predecessor, it was still such a joy to revisit the Heartbreakers and “catch up” with these characters that feel like old friends. Alec and Oliver and JJ and Stella have a very special place in my heart, and I’m holding out hope that Ali will write JJ’s special story soon! I NEED to know the girl that will tame his feisty heart.

Cute

This is a cute read.

I was happy to see more of Alec in this book, in the first book he's so quiet and mysterious. He's a cute character who's a bit socially awkward, but he and Felicity connected well. I enjoyed the mystery of what happened to Rose and their journey to find her. Road trips are always a fun plot device, people tend to open up and confess things.

I didn't really like Felicity's friend Asha. She was way too obsessed with The Heartbreakers, to the point of invading privacy and being obnoxious. I also wasn't happy about the secret Felicity's friends kept, although it was pretty obvious what was happening.

I love that we got to see more of the band, especially Stella. She and Alec have a super cute friendship. I'm looking forward to Xander's story next, he's a character we haven't seen much.

The Heartbreakers Chronicles is my favorite kind of swoony read. It has music, lovable cheesy moments with characters who are a joy to read about. Ali Novak could be one of my favorite YA romance writers because her style is smooth and flows nicely together.

I love her first book 'The Heartbreakers' and knew I wanted to read the next one. I already knew the male lead, Alec, he was fun in the first book and I was over the moon when I found out that he was the lead in this one. He's a sweet geek guy that makes this book amazing.

My favorite parts of this book would have to be when all the characters are all together. I already know them and I like to see where they are now to where I left them at the end of the first book.

I also like the lead female Felicity. She has her plans but they don't go the way she thinks they will. She goes through a lot of family problems during this book and I felt that make her a strong character because of it.

Overall, this is a perfect read to get lost in on a cold night. It's a story that flew by fast and was a blast!

Reread because I’d read this on wattpad years ago and wanted to relive the nostalgia lol. I loved these books as a teen and they still make me smile!
