I don’t read spy books. The story was interesting and I thought the main character was written well. I could clearly picture the type of man he is, how he talks, carries himself, etc. There’s a lot of talking between characters, sometimes it was confusing but I think it’s because the spy genre is new to me. However, I enjoyed it. I don’t think I’d read it again, but I don’t regret it.

I've read this book a bazillion times and I love it more and more with each reread. Dreamscape Audio started rerecording the novels recently, with Simon Vance as narrator and Vance is exquisite. There's a reason this book is one of, if not The most beloved Cold War spy novel of all time. The writing is brilliant and atmospheric. Le Carre is a master at the beginning of his craft and it's absolutely wonderful.
