2.5 if not 3 stars.

⭐️ for a really promising plot
⭐️ for a C+ effort on executing it
⭐️ for a decently complex main character

And where it falls short…

Books 1-3 throughout the chapters seem scattered. I know it is the authors intention to begin in present, time warp to the past and then hop back into the present again, but it wasn’t successful in my opinion. I was feeling like I was walking through thick mud to get to the other side of the story throughout the first half of the book. I don’t enjoy the Joy Joy plot line at all. What the story had in its Molly Calder plot was gold. Unfortunately, I realized the gold was plated and not genuine.

4.5

This was a 5 star read for me until literally the last 20 pages, and even at the end I still give it a 4.5/5 I just wish I liked the resolution a TAD more.
Honestly, I loved this so much. I can't wait to read it again and pick up on all the little hints.
A brilliant look at isolation and depression and the simple human need for connection and joy... joy.
