As a stand alone book it is difficult to actually provide a synopsis of what the story even is. In Asimov's style the story is mostly told through dialogue, which is interesting but somewhat hard to follow. I like the ideas of control through religion and trade. I somewhat am familiar with the plot of the books to come (which are much more interesting I'm told), therefore it was easier to invest in this book. However, I don't think I would have liked it as much without prior knowledge of the story to come.

An interesting take on centuries (millennia!) of galactic geopolitics and technology. I enjoyed the story, but struggled with some aspects of the book that did not age well. You can count on one hand the number of named women in the book, and none play any significant role. Reading more about the author and his views did not help this issue.

Checking another sci-fi classic off my to-read list!
While I enjoyed this I can't say that I loved it.
Brief snapshot through my lens: The Galactic Empire ruled much of space for thousands of years. One man can see into the future and can predict 30k years of war and ignorance. To help sustain the wealth of knowledge in the universe he forms The Foundation on a distant planet. There, scholars work to maintain a galactic encyclopedia. But, as one might imagine, soon the predicted warlords set their sites on the Foundation. Encyclopedias and Politics in Spaaaaaace!!

Finally decided to start into this series. Felt more like a political novel vs sci fi. Hoping that improves in the next one
