I can’t truly fairly rate this volume. I hate the choice made even if I understand the decision from a writing and storytelling perspective. I think it makes sense, and truthfully, is fitting and well written. I love it too- if only for it reinforcing my beliefs about one character. To me-he did win the war, even if he lost the battle.
That said, chapter 236 has some of my favorite moments of the series. The themes of solitude and loneliness and love and satisfaction and regret- stunning. The nuances are multi-layered. I’m only sad that this character didn’t live to see their dreams realized- because their dream does come true.

Also to me this is as good as a love confession so

This series is not for the faint of heart.
It is wonderful, heart-wrenching, and the plot is absolutely amazing - but Gege is not afraid to rip your heart out and feed it to you on a platter. The amount of times this story has brought me to tears is more than I'm willing to admit, especially since it has all happened since the Shibuya Arc (if you know, you know). Do I recommend this series? Absolutely yes. Do I recommend having tissues available? Also yes.

Not sure how I feel about the direction this story is going. I miss the characters I grew to love in the first part of this series and they're either dying off or just not around. I don't really care about these newer characters and I'm confused by what's going on. It'll probably be better when I go back to binge read or when I watch the anime, but idk man.
