Maewyn and Roan are a delightful duo and boy do I wish this was longer than a novella!
While I may have read this in May and June, this is the perfect novella for a rainy fall day with a hot chocolate and apple cider donut!

Villains and virtues is my favourite fantasy series, therefore Caggianno is obviously one of my favourite authors so I was very excited to read a book by her set in a different fantasy world. This novella was everything I love in her writing and more. Her characters, humour, beautiful worlds, romance and little talking creatures is what makes her books so special. As is often the case in romance novella’s, the romance seems a little rushed as there’s limited time for the characters to fall in love BUT i think Caggianno did an amazing job at slowly building their love into something that was undeniably real.
I can’t wait to buy a physical copy of this gorgeous book to add to my a.k. caggianno collection!
P.S. If we don’t get a book for Aunyx in the future, I may perish..
Thank you BookSirens and the author for giving me the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

It was a fun and sweet novella, very Jude and Cardan-coded. He's a brat, she's a clever human, thinking "He's an idiot but he's my idiot". I would have gladly read a full-length novel of these 2.
I liked that although Maewyn is thrown into the unfamiliar fae realm, she's not whiny, lost and in distress. She takes her situation in stride and acts to save herself and Roan.

“Roan might be a self-absorbed prick, but he’s…he’s my self-absorbed prick.”
this was a fun little fae fantasy novella with some romance. i thought the sassy human x bratty fae dynamics were fun, the mystery intriguing, and the extra epilogue spice was hot.
downside is it is a bit short so you're thrown into the world, but i felt like the ending resolution came together nicely.
looking forward to more from caggiano!
