I wanted to like this book more than I did. I generally enjoy Paulo Coelho’s books but this one felt different than his others. I found his writing style to be very distracting here… I appreciated the message he was trying to convey but the writing felt really cheesy and his character came across as self-important and somewhat unlikeable. I found his relationship with Hilal to be creepy and extremely unhealthy (borderline toxic at times). The story had no clear plot and I struggled to stay interested. Overall, disappointing. Would not read again.
Just couldn't get into it. Glad it was a library book.
I don't know what to really say about the book or what my thoughts are about it.... It's very different than Mr. Paulo's usual writings...but the main idea of the book sounds way too fictional to me. I do believe in god and that he gave gifts to some people to feel and see things that normal people can't see...but not to this extend.
It was nice but it's not Paulo Coelho.

It was interesting, but hard to understand what he meant sometimes, it was hard to connect to his thoughts about past lives and religion specially not being religious myself. For someone that is religious, I believe reading the book would give them a different experience. All I can say is that it was interesting and left me wondering if it is possible to connect wth your previous lives.
Quotes (I like):
"We shouldn't judge ourselves too harshly." (70)
"No one can learn to love by following a manual and no one can learn to write by following a course. (...) because writing is no different from any other activity done with joy and enthusiasm." (89)
"Only mediocrity is sure of itself, so take risks and do what you really want to do." (90)
"Dreamers can never be tamed (...)." (113)
"Is it possible to know something without ever having experienced it? Yes, but it will never truly be part of you." (263)
"The moments that precede sleep are very similar to death." (271)

Izuzetno filozofska knjiga koja prati spoznaju dok protogonista putuje transibirskom relacijom-najdužom putanjom voza na svetu. Doživljava preporod uma i shvatanja.
