My first Conan story; I had not expected something so akin to Lovecraft's body of work, and am thoroughly hooked.

One of my favorite of the original Robert E Howard Conan the Cimmerian stories, even if its less action packed compared to some of the other Conan tales, (it is a story when conan is a king after all and not as a barbarian!) but its still is very well written and has some great lite cosmic horror elements as well!

A fun pulpy read that gets bonus points for being ahead of its time. Loved the name check of "cosmic horror" to describe the eldritch creature summoned. You know Howard was proud to reference his buddy Lovecraft.

Short and pulpy, as when Conan's axe cleaves you from skull to teeth.

A very good story of Conan's later life as king.

Short 5-chapter read, but really fun little fantasy romp of a classic character, and a fun read. Makes me want to get to know Conan better.

Descriptions are excellent as was the action.  But the story is so thin.  Apparently, this is the first of the Conan stories, and it was pretty good, but nothing particularly special.
