The story was unsettling and rough to read even if I read it in one sitting. It’s a very short story about a Roman myth that I hadn’t heard of before and the way Madeline Miller writes about it makes it feel so big and human like the rest of her books, it shows me why I’ve loved her other work so much even if this wasn’t my favorite (because of the creepiness and unsettling feeling)

That was... Wow. Short but extremely compelling, it shows the power of women's determination to be independent and mothers' urge to protect their children. I loved it.
