This episode of the Old Man's War series features a story about Zoe. Zoe is John and Jane's adoptive daughter and the story of how they found and adopted her was told in an earlier book. While not strictly necessary to the story arc as the events in Zoe's Tale are also told in Scalzi's [b:The Last Colony|88071|The Last Colony (Old Man's War #3)|John Scalzi|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1437660786s/88071.jpg|18279847] it gives them to us from Zoe's perspective and fleshes out her history with the Obin.

I don’t want a remix of the previous book.

Scalzi can write.  He captures teenage girl voice, and manages to keep readers glued to a book that retells an old story.  Zoe is the star.

Fun story. Good characters, I have never known teenagers as articulate as these.

I can't recommend the Old Man's War series enough. It's the best sci-fi I've read in years.

Did not entirely saw the point of the book. I guess space opera story re-telling through the eyes of a teenager is not my genre. And, leaving some minor loose ends on purpose in the previous book just to tie them in this one - not cool. Just didn't like the idea. Couldn't finish the book, although I like the series and I love Scalzi's style.
