Need to know how to play bridge
fast-paced

3. Agatha Christie books are such a great way to kill a few hours of time...I really enjoy her novels even IF they are a bit predictable due to how old the books are! Loving Hercule's cases!

One of my favorite Poirot stories, with lots of red herrings & the appearance of the fiesty Ariadne Oliver.

recommend this to anyone who loves crazy plot twists. agatha christie made my jaw drop a couple of times in the last few chapters. in my opinion hercule poirot works best when he analyses  psychological evidence rather than forensic evidence and this book focuses exactly on that. it does drag on in the middle but the payoff is worth it imo

I'm not ashamed to admit that with this one, Christie led me completely by the nose right until the last line. And even then I was worried she'd flip the identity of the murderer again.
Cards on the Table is one of her more complex ones, speaking prose-wise. And no, you do not need to be an expert on bridge to understand the plot of this one. Although it does enhance the whole surreal experience.

The characters, as always, are complex, the plot is riveting and the fact that you get the top four sleuths from Christie's other books is a sweet, sweet bonus. The only part I didn't like was the fact that there was not a lot of involvement on Colonel Race's part in the story.

After reading The Man in the Brown Suit, I was really curious about his personality, but alas, the Queen of Crime chooses to keep him the dark again.

All in all, a wonderful plot- and a book that I finished in a day!

Excellent plotting...I thought for a moment that I was heading for disappointment when a certain event happened, but then I looked at the percent complete and was like, well we're nowhere near the end of the book yet! There's gotta be more! I didn't see the solution coming, and feel misled, but in a good way.

It was interesting having so many sleuths from Christie's other series come together in this one. I liked Ariadne Oliver's thinly-veiled cover for Agatha Christie herself and her thoughts on writing. I wish I could come up with ideas for plots the way they do.

Casual racism rears its head several times in this book, though, diminishing the enjoyment. Also, what the heck was Mr Shaitana thinking anyway in setting up this party?? Knowing his invitees, should he not have taken precautions?
