My liking for Victorian horror is becoming concerning.

As for the story, it's basically a loose retelling of Burke/Hare murders where they murdered people who supposedly would not be missed and sold their bodies to Knox for the purpose of scientific research. While this is fictitious, this is based off of that--literal body snatching occurs.

The story is about a collective defective moral compass, but the interesting bit is that it was a reality. There are some elements of guilt which explains the ending.

The eeriness of this story sent me and the ending was surprising--both of which are yays.

I was quite enjoying the tale, and wondering where it was going with things, when, it just, ended... It was quite good until then, but it needed an ending that pulled things together better. What is the tale-teller going to do? What did he and his erstwhile partner do next in the flashback? Very unsatisfying ending.

A fairly enjoyable short read. It also complemented what I knew of medicine at the time.
