it felt a bit juvenile and the characters feel flat. i know this is the first book in a six book series but by 56% i should be getting a HINT of characterization that doesn’t act as a plot device

What a start. This is Bolten Academy, the place where the children of Italian and Russian mobsters cut their teeth on the business as they struggle to be on top. Lessons are apparently optional.
Bianca is forced into this world by her sleazy stepfather, unwillingly engaged to the son of the Russian leader. To escape his awful - and I mean awful - clutches, she willingly surrenders herself to his enemy, the son of the Italian leader. It seems like a good deal…until it doesn’t.
It’s a dangerous, sexy, ugly world. There is literally only one person with no agenda (apparently). Everyone has an ulterior motive and everything comes at a cost. The question is whether the cost is worth it…
This was a reread and it was just as gripping as the first time I picked up this book. I read it in under 24 hours. As with all KG books, it is essential you check your triggers against the list on her website before you read.

You guys I am obsessed with the start of this series! Like literally cannot get enough! This is a dark WhyChoose series so as always please mind your triggers because there are lots! But I could not put this books down.

DNF at 76%. I tried so hard to just push my way through but I could not any longer.
This book read like a teenager wrote it. The characters were one dimensional and predictable. The plot was non existent. And if they said “fold” or “bundle of nerves” one more time, I was going to throw my kindle.
I got this for free during a stuff your kindle day so I really wanted to like it, but I could not. She was a VIRGIN and somehow is the best at everything after one time? And she goes from being a virgin to suddenly throwing it around to everyone.
It seemed like the author didn’t know who they wanted the female lead to end up with so they just had her give it up to everybody until she could decide.
So, not for me and I will obviously not even be trying any other books in this series.
