This is a book about neighbours who live in a nice complex in Brighton.. The book makes a start when one of the residents (Priscilla) comes to another resident’s (Rae) door injured and hands her her diary, claiming “i know what you’ve done”. She then runs back out of the door and collapses and is taken by ambulance to hospital.
We have Rae and her husband Clark, Dunstan, a single man working as a policeman and Bryony who is married to Grayson (a nasty, cruel man) who loves controlling his wife and children. We also have Lilly who lived in Italy for a number of years by is back in Brighton to live.
This domestic noir hooked me in straight from the start and there are so many unanswered questions which throughout the book you are slowly drip fed details.
From a multi-character perspective you learn more about each of the main characters and slowly build up an understanding of what each knows..
I enjoyed this read, I haven’t read anything by this author before but as book that provides suspense and guilt and fear then i kept me turning the pages.
4 star - a great read and I will be looking for other books by this author.
Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Not my favourite Dorothy Koomson book by any means.
I found the beginning really show and hard to keep track of all the POVs but by the middle the mystery had got me interested. Unfortunately the ending didn’t feel complete to me.
Book is split into parts but I didn’t really understand the reason for this.

I haven’t read a Dorothy Koomson book in a while, she was once one of my favourite authors but I found her books a little samey, always set in Brighton and always surrounding a familiar cast of characters, I found I was getting a chunk through a book pondering if I had read it before.
I did do a little groan when in the first few lines the book reveals, it is indeed set in Brighton. But that soon passed as the book features around a fictional street called Acacia villas and the residents that live there, the book could have been set in any town, and jr wouldn’t have effected the story.
After an attack on the street on one resident who appears to have known the attack was coming, who was going to do it and why.
The book was an easy read in predominately short chapters that was easy to pick up and put down. Leaning more onto the mystery who done it side of DK rather than romance. It’s been years since my last DK read so I didn’t have that same sense of familiarity with her story writing as I did before and found it enjoyable and not like a story I’d already read.
It wasn’t too dark of a story and didnt edge into being a thriller, but it did still have twists to the story. Some of which were expected and some of which weren’t. The ending was a little unsatisfying for me and didn’t feel like it had fit much of other parts of the book.
3 is a little harsh, 4 is a little too generous based on other recent reads, so I’d give this a solid 3.5 if I could

Absolutely amazing. It was a page turner and kept you guessing as to who it was.
So many twists and turns and I really didn’t see the ending happening

Someone reviewed it's "good in parts but not in others" and I feel like that's an apt description of this book.
That said, it was written compellingly enough for me to see it through to the end but it just didn't deliver enough in terms of hook, pacing, and suspense.

Writing this right after reading the last chapter and I’m just… wow. Did NOT see that coming. From the begining, I was rooting for Rae, from everyone I wanted her to be safe. It’s an amazing thriller and one of the best book of Dorothy Koomson so far.
