Not the kind of book I would have chosen for myself but I'm glad I read it. This was an astonishing read. Probably not the best for bedtime reading.
I’ve never seen paneling like that. Incredible layouts.
Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely are one of comics' greatest teams (except for Earth 2, we don't talk about that) and We3 finds them taking a bit of a turn from their usual fare into an incredibly violent animal mecha. It's jarring to see Frank Quitely's talent for blood splattering absolutely everywhere mixed with loveable animals, and I'm not convinced it works all the way through, but this strange book manages to find a lot of heart in very few pages. It's distressing as hell, though, so be warned.
I don't know what I was expecting going into this but it was a great short story told as only GM could pull off in three issues.

My only complaint with this is that I wish it'd been longer.
This was recommended to me by the owner of my local comic store before it sadly closed down. He described it as pretty much The Incredible Journey except that the animals have been turned into weapons, and that's pretty darn accurate. It's gory but heart-string pulling as a dog, a cat and a bunny, who just happen to be lethal killing machines about to be decommissioned, escape and try to find home, the place where you don't run anymore. I really liked it, I got caught up in the story, attached to the three, and I was getting choked up more than once. Some of the art layouts were really different and interesting too, especially the cctv and when the cat fights. And now I think I need to go and give my own beloved cats a cuddle.
This was way too short. Cool idea, great art but I think the whole thing could be gotten through in less than 20 minutes.
Very graphic, kinda gross. Definitely touching if you're an animal lover (I am). But I think to have a real impact it should have ended differently.
