This is an amusing look at the world and how we are all linked together somehow. It starts with the tale of Noah's Ark from the perspective of a woodworm who was on the ship whether you believe it or not. The remaining stories tie back in some way to the ark or the wormwood though it might be in a small way. It sounds nuts but it was interesting and though-provoking at times.

I loved this book as a teenager and was surprised to find recently that I still love it. The structure is useful not gimmicky, and the voices are so charming.
"I admire her because she's got this job of sleeping that we all do, every night, ceaselessly, until we die, much better worked out than I have. She handles it like a sophisticated traveller unthreatened by a new airport. Whereas I lie there in the night with an expired passport, pushing a baggage trolley with a squeaking wheel across to the wrong carousel."

the first chapter of this book tells the story of noah's ark from the point of view of a mosquito. My friend ricky wanted to borrow it, so I told him that, and then I told him, "it's revisionist." He gave me that look of, my god sarah beth sometimes you're an idiot. And then I gave him a look that said, Stop being such a snob, not everyone knows what revisionist is, much less how to find it.
I think we then discussed some kind of meta aspect of michael gondry films.

Read this in a class on Modern British Literature, and I didn't expect to like it all. It actually blew me away. Not great across the board, but there are enough amazing stories in here, and enough cohesion amongst the chaos, to make this a great text. Highly recommended to those that can wade through it with their brains intact.
What a strange book, but great writing as always. I definitely will need to read it again to let it sink in a bit more.
