Everything was going along just fine until they
Spoiler had to bring The Darkling back into it. Proof that, and YA lit, if you're hot enough, you don't have to stay dead. Ugh. Also, I am very sad about Isaak, okay?
Still, this is probably my favorite of Bardugo's Grishaverse books (so far), and

I am glad Nikolai and Zoya (especially Zoya) had a chance to be front and center for their own story. And, as much as I love seeing Nina back in action, her story feels a bit forced and extremely isolated. I am curious to see how she will work into the larger story of this series, other than just "remote spy for Ravka."

I had high hopes for this book because it follows most of my favorite characters from the first two grisaverse series. It had the potential to be great but ended up being just okay. I think the jumping around from different characters perspectives at some of the most tense parts of the story made it difficult to get really immersed in the book. It was really cool to see how the characters grew since their first appearance in their respective series.

A good read that offers multiple storylines from characters across SoC and S&B aswell as some new ones. I felt the plot didn't have enough set up before introducing the saints, but it offered some interesting insight to the workings of grisha and the small science which I enjoyed. I loved Zoya's journey and learning more about her. Looking forward to Rule of Wolves!
