I enjoyed this! A nice holiday romance that incorporates Christmas but at the same time, isn’t too holiday-heavy. I think it could be read any time of year. I wasn’t blown away, but I liked it.

this was a mostly lighthearted read, and i enjoyed the book overall. i think it was well written and incredibly funny. i'd love to read a sequel of the book to experience more of what was next for the characters.

Cute and cozy! I enjoyed the paleontology angle (though, I’m no expert, I have a feeling none of that was realistic lol who finds a seemingly prestigious internship in ANY field their freshman year of undergrad?) and the Jewish-Christmas perspective. I felt like the anxiety Shani experienced was relatable and a generally bearable level of cringe, the conflicts felt natural and realistic. I leave this book with no thoughts and a demand to see more corgis in literature!

I was considering not finishing the book because how you gonna have a romance novel with a college aged student and a 17 year old. But then I was like, that is not really the direction we are actually headed. I listened a little more closely and realized they are both college students, one is 18 and the other 3 days from 18. Also, this was not the typical romance novel so there is no crossing the lines which had me totally weirded out for a hot minute. So, if like me you find yourself horrified, give the book a chance because we do touch on some important stuff that is not often discussed in the wlw queer community.
