This is one of the stupidest, grossest, most offensive things I’ve ever read. It is pointless, gratuitous, and horribly written. The art is fine, but the writing is not only mediocre and awkward, but seems like it was written by AI. While Snow White may be a monster in this retelling, she is still only a girl of six and later twelve years of age, and she is constantly sexualized and demeaned (in addition to being depicted instigating sexual acts with grown men, including her father!) and don’t even get me started on the necrophilia scene. Besides this, the book was also demeaning to disabled people, describing the forest people as misshapen, stunted, greedy idiots, and overall demeaning to women in general (no woman, alone and naked in her bedroom, would ever think “if a man were in my room spying on me right now, he would be aroused by my naked body!”). I can’t believe this was allowed to be published.

The story was not what I was expecting. It was very adult, but it was very interesting and very unique take on a snow white retailing..

The art is absolutely stunning. The fact that its hand drawn and painted adding to that.

The story, while a compelling thought exercise, wasnt working for me and I couldn't figure out why. I loved the magic of the queen, but the age she is at the beginning and the alluding to her using a glamor to get the king, followed by the age of snow white (13 at the oldest) and how sexualized she is was rubbing me the wrong way. I found someone in the reviews put their finger on it, it came off as edgy for the sake of edgy.

I saw this book on my coworker’s Goodreads and I had to pick it up because of the cover art. I knew this would be a very grim retelling but I didn’t anticipate that this would be so beautiful and absolutely horrible. There are so many unspoken evils here; this story strikes blow after blow and never misses in its aim for your mind and your heart. It is so open ended and loose in some places that the fill in the blank your mind does gets scary. I gave this a 4/5 because of the stunning art work and the passion in it. The pictures told a story better than the words did. Ultimately this was too sad for me.
