AUDIOBOOK & EBOOK

This series is incredible. This one took me a little longer to read because I had a few books going at once. The storyline is great, so much more than just the romance. I'm excited to continue the series.

Second reread.
Sarah J. Maas books are a guilty pleasure of mine. That's not to say that I don't have problems with her books. As I always say they're like junk food to me. This series is no different.

OVERVIEW
A Court of Mist and Fury picks up three months after the events of A Court of Thorns and Roses. Feyre is back in the Spring Court with Tamlin. She and Tamlin are now engaged to be married, but things are not going as well as we might hope. Feyre suffers from terrible nightmares that keep her awake and often make her throw up. She's lost a lot of weight and with her lack of sleeping she's pretty much a ghost. Tamlin pretends not to notice and takes his shitheadedness a step further by not allowing her to get out of the house. Ianthe, one of the twelve the High Priestess of Prythian, plans the wedding and practically worships Feyre and Tamlin. She also has made an alliance with Tamlin on behalf of the twelve. On the big day, Feyre realizes that she can't marry Tamlin. She is screaming inside her mind for someone to save her, and that’s when Rhysand shows up

and whisks her away to the Night Court.
In the night court Rhys informs Feyre that war is coming and the wall that separates the Fae world from the mortal world will likely come down if that happens. The King of Hybern has been planning to reclaim the mortal lands for a century and Amarantha was just an experiment (not the real threat). Rhysand wants Feyre to find out if Tamlin will fight with the Night Court if it comes to it. He also believes that Feyre might have special abilities or powers (from the high Fea that created her) that she needs to learn to use. So when she goes back and asks Tamlin if she could train, his answer is:

"Training would draw too much attention" Tamlin said. "You don't need to train. I can guard you from whatever comes our way."

Tamlin... bro...
You'd think he'd stop there, but no...
One thing leads to another and Tamlin eventually locks Feyre inside the house. Feyre loses her shit and goes berserk. Rhys comes to the rescue

and so begins the plotting and planning against the king of Hybern, and of course Feyre and Rhysand's union

MY THOUGHTS
Tamlin was not a perfect character in the first book. There were a lot of moments I hated him but he had his good moments. He was considerate and he did care about Feyre. I excused a lot ofhis behaviors in the first book, but I think his transformation in this book was insane. A little too insane. I wasn't that surprised with the turn his character took in this book but i would definitely have preferred at least a little more build up or a glimpse into what's going on in that head of his. But it felt like the drastic turn his character took was to make Rhys look good. Which I won't deny Sarah J Maas did a great job with villainizing Tamlin and making Rhys look good, because in the first half of the book I found myself hating Tamlin and loving Rhys.
My shipping of Feyre and Rhys actually started happening immediately and the sexual tension throughout the entire book was unreal. Every time they got close, they were pulled away. and I'm there like:

I loved reading about the night court, the court of dreams, the history of Prythian. Ijust loved the world-building. We get introduced to a new cast of characters whom I instantly fell in love with. Learning of Rhysands story was probably my favorite.
I wasn’t surprised but was totally surprised by the ending, ya know what I mean? It was one of those things I should have seen coming but I didn’t because I lack of brain cells when It comes to seeing things coming.
A lot of people say this book is mostly sex, that it should be categorized under erotica but having have read erotica I personally don't see it. There is sex scenes in the book and a lot of sexual tension, and sure they're very descriptive but not as drastic as some make it out to be. I've read YA fantasy that are just as descriptive. But I do have to say Sarah J. Maas gets under my skin with her use of certain words like growled, snarled, hissed, roared. I cannot get down with that especially the roared one. But I think disclaimers and trigger warnings should be added to these books, because there are very young people picking these books up.
