To examine the causes of life, we must first have recourse to death.

I have so many questions!!

⭐⭐⭐.5

The book started okay. The main characters, Hazel and Jack didn't meet each other till the middle of the story. They didn't have many conversations, and I didn't even feel like there was any romance. I was pretty excited about reading this cause the title says "A Love Story" and I kinda expected a gut-wrenching-that-will-leave-me-sobbing-on-the-floor type of love story. Sure, they loved each other, but I just didn't feel it between them. There were sad parts that were supposed to make me cry, but I didn't. I've finished the book with a straight face.

The 150 pages of the book was Hazel trying to attend lectures and getting thrown out and some introduction about the resurrection men. That's it. Nothing really happens in the first half. The story gets interesting after Hazel gets thrown out of the lectures. The only thing that kept me going was the plot. It was unlike anything I have ever read before, and all the surgeries and blood makes it scary.

The story was rushed in the last 50 pages. A lot of things happened, and they were so many loose ends. I knew there was going to be a plot twist, but it threw the story completely off the hook. I have so many questions.
The letter at the end means that Jack took the vial, and he is alive and immortal. What about Hazel then? She did not have any extra vial with her, so does that mean she gets old and dies? What about the doctor? Will he go around countries killing people? Will Hazel not stop him? And what about that goddam Roman fever?? I thought the whole point was  finding a cure for it.
The ending should have been longer and explained these few things a bit more clearly.

Overall, the story could have been better. Hazel and Jack have great potential, if only the romance was written better...…
I would have given it like 4 stars or 4.5 stars if it wasn't for the ending. I don't have the heart to give it 3 stars, so I'm giving it 3.5.
