bored. Got to page 112 and the entirety of the romance so far is the main characters making eye contact from across the street

This was so so so much better than I expected it to be. I love new plot ideas, like i have never read anything like this and I absolutely loved it. So fun and fresh. I really loved Hazels character, but I wish we got more Jack!! Maybe in book 2? The ending did seem a bit rushed though so that did bring down my rating a bit. Other than that I recommend you give this book a try!!

3.5 stars, but rounding up to 4 for the lovely cover and frankly for the feisty main character and the fresh approach to a historical fiction. The things I loved: the sense of place in Edinburgh, the well researched gory past of medical history and grave robbing. I liked the idea of our fiesty smart main female character, but quibble with the character choices and the jumping in and out of when she has to comply with societal norms and when she can completely ignore them based on what served the plot (but I guess it is fiction after all). So I had some cringey moments, but overall enjoyed this and will continue with book 2.
