Bess McNee just wants to do a little research for the soap opera that she is a writer on. Dressing up like a prostitute seems like a good idea to create some realism in her characters. She doesn't realize that she might get pushed into picking up a couple of guys. Or that they might be cops. When she ends up at the police station, she is delighted.
The arresting officer, Alexi Stanislaski, is not so delighted. There have been several women killed lately and he doesn't need some... writer... out making it worse. But she just keeps putting herself in his way. And she might seem a little ditzy but she has a sharper mind than he first sees.
A nice addition to the series. Maybe doesn't age as well as a couple of the other books but isn't egregious.

Another Hit

A great book with the family I've gotten to love. I'm so glad (as if there were any choice) that Bess and Alex finally got it right. They deserve happiness.

"Being in love with her left him helpless, made him stupid, brought him a kind of fear he had never faced as a cop. Not fear for his life.Fear for his heart."

Another addition to the Stanislaskis family by Nora Roberts. A entertaining book, but not the greatest of Roberts. I enjoyed the storyline and, while I found the Character of Bess delightfull, I never really warmed or felt much of a connection. Same with Alex. I also didn't really feel their romance much. It somehow seemed a bit forced and too rushed. But to be fair, I am used to holding Nora Roberts to a higher standard than other romance writers. It is a nice story, that certainly is entertaining, it's just not very gripping in my opinion.

Love, love, LOVE this book! Well the entire series so far! 😄 I so enjoy the family dynamic and you'll laugh yourself silly over Bess' quirks! Such a light-hearted, fun read! I just love this family! 🙂

Ive read these out of order. Good story though, as are all of Roberts!
