Sci-fi romance combined with wolf shifters? Sign me up! I really enjoyed A WOLF TO WATCH OVER ME and I can't wait to read the rest of the series and learn more about this world. It's the distant future and Earth has colonized other planets, drawing the attention of alien species. After a brutal war with the alien Cancri Axis, Earth now has an alliance with the Fenrir Army, wolf shifters from another world. When scientist Lauren Ivers is almost kidnapped for her research she's rescued by Hakon sidUlfr, the Fenrir bodyguard she didn't even know her company had hired. Now Lauren and Hakon are on the run from her enemies as they attempt to reach Hakon's pack ship.

I absolutely loved the combination of science fiction and wolf shifters and I wish this had been longer so I could learn more. A brief overview of the war and the species involved is all readers get and while it's enough to understand the background of this short story it also left me wanting more. The action starts right from the first chapter and I was sucked into Lauren and Hakon's escape.

As short and action packed as this is, you still get a great idea of Lauren and Hakon as characters. Lauren was super smart and a touch sarcastic. She comes from a wealthy and prominent political family but she has no desire to bow to her family's desires for her to give up her career and get married to someone they approve of. She's shocked when she first encounters Hakon in his vargulf form (9 foot tall, hulking werewolf) but she's not afraid of him. Hakon is strong, brutal, and willing to do anything to protect Lauren, especially when he realizes she's his mate. Hakon gave us all the "touch her and die" vibes for those that like possessive alpha heroes. The steam level for A WOLF TO WATCH OVER ME is very low, only a kiss, but considering the plot spans just a few hours and Lauren and Hakon are strangers, it fits the overall story.
