This is it. The final battle. The last stand. And it is as ugly as it can get. How many are already lost? There will be more surely. I'm terrified of the conclusion of this war.

This was amazing. Finally, readers have Applegate's undivided attention and everything important that's gone down in the last few DOZEN books falls into place.

The abilities and firepower of the Animorphs and their few allies is nothing compared with the full force of the Yeerk Empire. A surprising development, well, surprising to all except Cassie, offers an interesting opportunity, but only Jake has the vision to bring the war to its conclusion.

Jake's plan is chilling and I do not know what I would have made of it if I had read this as a child. It works, of course it does, but...wow.

This is the penultimate book to the series, and I'm finding I don't want it to end.

This is the second to last book in the Animorphs series. Jake is still reeling from the choices made in the last book. He wants to save his family from the Yeerks but he can't seem to out smart Controller Tom. This time the Animorphs are targeting the Taxxons as they rebuild the Yeerk pool. Jake and Cassie are trying to work through their issues while still fight the good fight. Jake has decided to win at all costs. The team is starting to fall apart. Will Jake be able to finally defeat the Yeerks? I am excited to finish this series finally.

"My name is Jake Berenson."
After 50+ books of first names only, seeing a last name like that can send a chill down your spine. The time for secrecy is over, now it is an all-out war. And Jake says as much.
This is an incredibly intense book. Start to finish.
It's good to see the Animorphs win big, even as they suffer loss. And then, of course, the book ends on a cliffhanger.
To be continued in the final book of the series.

I both can't wait to reread the final book and never want it to end.

Like most of the Animorphs books, this one begins slowly and doesn't pick up steam 'til near the end. Its also basically the first half of a two part book. I think maybe its not even very good unless you read The Beginning right after it.
