I didn't really go into this book with a lot of expectations, mainly because I didn't really know what I was getting myself in for in the first place.

And honestly, I didn't love it.. I also didn't hate it. I think my main issue was the first half just dragged a little too much for me. If we could of put that first half on 2x speed and maybe added some more to the ending, when things really started getting interesting, then I wouldn't have struggled as much.

I have admittedly, now I finished this book, read some reviews for the second in the series and to be honest.. I don't think I'll be picking it up. I didn't love this book enough to push through some of the issues the second also apparently has.

Full review on my blog to come!

I enjoyed this book, but it did my boy Alistair dirty. He simped so hard he forgot his character motivation along the way. The pacing was sometimes off, but it was still good. They did the gore/death so well I just wanted MORE and the "villain" aspect of it was nonexistent.

This was a fantastic dark YA fantasy. Loved the twist plot, characters and their development throughout, the world building and magic system. The multiple POV was sometimes overwhelming.

The narration of the audiobook was fantastic. I would have preferred duet narration over then duel narration.

Can’t wait to read/listen to Book 2: All of our demise
