Another satisfying solid case involving Bruno.

Another superb installment in this series, these books have a very enjoyable formula and a bit of edge to Bruno this time dealing with a teenage bully, along with his assistance of the victims redemption.
An enjoyable story with lots of intrigue and a red herring, Bruno's love life continues to take many more twists and turns. It would be nice to finally have him settle down. He certainly puts it about.
Coming to the end of this series too along with Montalbano, which is a shame but I can always revisit St Denis and Vigata.

A couple of rather negative reviews here which I disagree with! I enjoyed this instalment of Bruno’s life rather more than some of the others. Perhaps because it’s inspiration was lighter and an historically interesting mystery: the Bugatti cars. I agree that the terrorist sub plot was an excuse to bring Isobel back, though she hardly features so why bother? It’s just so wonderful to return to the wonderful Périgord people and region. Having stayed in Trémolat I appreciate the love the author has for the area.

Not one of the better ones. Bruno is becoming even more misogynistic than previously (esp re Isabelle). I may move onto other things.

Nice bucolic mystery in the vein of Alexander McCall Smith - just relaxing.

I still like Bruno, but this one seemed to be forced to novel length.

Short Review: I am a bit disappointed in this book. It has all of the basic elements that I love about the series. But it also only seems to have the standard elements. The story seems to have stagnated and Walker needs to decide what to do with Bruno to move the broader story along. Nothing really bad about the book. But also nothing that really drew me into it either.
