I love this series and wish I could go back in time and read it as a young reader because it would be a series I read every couple of years. Love the Queen of Attolia herself.
At the moment I can't remember why something bothered me in book 1..did something bother me * checking review* Aha it was not knowing how old Gen was, well that does still bother me but not as much. But closer do the second half it did bother me again, I honestly want to know if he is a boy or a man? 13 or 18? What is he?
Anyway, I think I liked the book more than the last because it's something with the way she writes. A flow of words, a certain ease and way to it that makes it more than fiction.
I also learnt more about the state of affairs in the world and war is still coming. Not to mention the shocking beginning at the start of the book. She had me shaking my head in disbelief. The first half is darker but it gets lighter and it was heartbreaking.
It made me wonder how book 3 will be and I hope to read it soon and see how Gen is doing and...hihi, no spoilers from me. But I am sure curious.

I almost gave up on this one at the beginning but I'm glad I didn't.
adventurous
emotional
mysterious
fast-paced
The political nature of this book (planning/plotting/executing/outcomes) that the characters had to endure were such that I found it hard to understand, especially in the moment. Had to revisit several chapters because of. Even though I have given this book 4 stars, i’m still debating whether I should lower it to 3.
These books are absolutely brilliant. Full review over here: https://rickusbookshelf.wordpress.com/2016/11/11/queen-of-attolia-by-megan-whalen-turner-the-queens-thief-2/

Okay, I see why you all love these books so much now.
Also, Megan Whalen Turner really looked at yall yellin' around enemies-to-lovers is just coworkers pulling pranks on each other, laughed in your faces, and said "hold my beer", and that's all I can say about this book without spoiling.
4.5 stars.

THE MOTHER OF ALL ENEMIES TO LOVERS OMG! I've never read an enemies to lovers like this. It's not all fluffy and romantic though so don't go into this book expecting that. This second books gets very political but it's even better than the first. Gen is my angel baby I love him so much. His personality gives me life and I wish there were more MMC's like him in the book universe.
