I was on board with this novel until we got to the section where Jessica is emailing her sister. That’s where the author lost me. The way Jessica’s voice, character, and backstory is written sounds WAY too much of a Black woman stereotype. As this book (as I googled) is written by an older white man, I don’t think he had the place to write this character.

I also felt like this book was going in the same direction as A Head Full of Ghosts, which I didn’t vibe with too much, so that also played a factor into it.

What would you do if you were a ghost hunter and you actually found a genuine haunted house? I highly recommend listening to the audiobook! You get the whole experience of a paranormal team who has found not only a haunted house but a house that WANTS to be heard. I don't normally like audiobooks that have multiple narrators, but this is less book and more found footage story.

I felt that there wasn’t enough build up in the beginning of this story but overall was enjoyable. I definitely recommend the audiobook, the full cast was great to listen to.

I enjoyed the journey, but it didn’t stick the landing.
