Buddy read with my 12 yo, Huda F Are You was absolutely incredible. It's a graphic novel about a Muslim teen who moves into a new neighborhood and has an identity crisis when she doesn't quite fit in with people in the new school.
Huda's journey is also paired with confronting racism and I loved the way it was integrated into the story because of how race is a big part of her identity and she learns how to navigate it in her day to day life.
The book is so much fun and so relatable to me (even at 36 years old)! I'm not sure my 12 yo could fully understand the power in each chapter, but the message in this book is especially needed for young teens.
Highly recommend this book to one and all. It's a fast, easy read (I read it in around an hour) with some wonderful messages sprinkled with funny stories.

I don't know why but after finishing the book, I still feel like something is missing. Maybe it's that I wanted more or for it to not end. The experiences she tackles and in the way she did was great. Micro-aggression are so frequently brushed off, especially to not feel even more stuck out than you already are.

A great slice-of-life graphic novel about being Muslim in America. Huda's just trying to figure out where to fit in, especially in a new school. There's a tone of humor throughout that makes this a quick read, and an important addition to the growing number of YA graphic novels. Overall, a great time!
