Huda F is a wonderfully written comic that has its fair share of laughs and heart-wrenching moments.

CW: Islamophobia; menustration mentioned on page.

Funny memoir about Huda Fahmy coming of age in high school and finding who Huda really is. Meanwhile, she experiences a lot of Islamophobia from teachers and peers. I really enjoyed this. It was a short and sweet read!

I don't know why but after finishing the book, I still feel like something is missing. Maybe it's that I wanted more or for it to not end. The experiences she tackles and in the way she did was great. Micro-aggression are so frequently brushed off, especially to not feel even more stuck out than you already are.

A lovely story! It really hit me emotionally towards the end. It’s beautiful to see someone write to their teenaged self and see that hurting kids come out on the other side. Beautiful!

“have you ever broken someone’s heart? i mean like actually held it in your hands and crushed it? because until right now in the principal’s office, i’d only ever read about it. the look on mama’s face. I did that. I broke her heart.”

this is a beautiful graphic novel that’s all about finding who you are and who you want to be. i cannot relate to the very specific experiences of the Muslim-American main character since I am not Muslim, however I think the overall experience is relatable for everyone. the graphic novel is also a very accessible way for people to explore their experience. i think younger kids and teens would really benefit from this story as well!!
